Samir Karnik after two back to back flops (Kyon Ho Gaya Na and Nanhe Jaisalmer) makes a grand comeback with a Heroes, a good film that tugs your heart strings and makes you think.

It tells the story of two aimless youth Sammy (Sohail Khan) and Ali (Vatsal Sheth) who have to travel a thousand miles to deliver three letters as a part of their film school assignment. But little do they know that the journey they have embarked upon will end up giving a new meaning to their life. Unfolding in three chapters it tells peaks into the lives of Balkar Singh (Salman) and Kuljeet Kaur (Preity) in the first chapter, brothers Vikram (Sunny) and Dhananjay Shergill (Bobby) in the second chapter and that of Dr. Naqvi (Mithun) and his son Sahil (Dino) in the final chapter.

How Sammy and Ali’s encounters of heroes in real life changes their attitude towards their own life and our country forms rest of the film.

It is a very good subject that doesn’t involve any jingoism from our country’s army men characters to prove their love for the nation. Though the opening sequences (including a mindless song) appear a little irritating, the film takes a good turn once the chapters start unfolding back to back. The culmination is the high point of the film which makes us all feel proud for country and our army men and also makes us realize at the same time that you don’t have to be in the army to be a real hero. Every common person has it in him to be a Hero. The title of the film couldn’t have been more apt.

Scenes between Salman and Preity, Bobby and Sunny have turned out very well. You are in tears in most of the places. This film is a pleasant surprise if you go in without any expectations. The performances by every single actor take this film above average. Salman and Preity not only look like a real couple but they are very much in character appearing real Punjabis. Sunny gets some whistle blowing moments after a long time in a Bollywood film. Bobby in a short role impresses and so do Dino and Mithun. Vatsal shows remarkable improvement as an actor post his disastrous debut in Tarzan the Wonder Car. Sohail with his witty one-liners keeps you engaged and shows the transformation of his character very well. Amrita and Riya hardly have any role to speak about.

Samir Karnik deserves kudos for choosing a great subject and narrating it very well. He has very well incorporated strong emotions that bring a tear to you eyes. Don’t miss this film; we are sure you will come out a changed person when you see it

The only unreal aspect about Madhur Bhandarkar movies are the disclaimer tag before the opening credits. Sure the characters and situations in his films are influenced, if not aped, from real-life and paradoxically this is the most original inspiration in our imitated industry.

One line in the film says, "Fashion mein jitna kum sochogi utna zyada kamaogi" (the less you think in fashion the more you earn). However the converse is true for Madhur Bhandarkar who has applied adequate thought in weaving a story taking the fashion industry as the backdrop.

The story is of an ambitious small-town girl Meghna Mathur (Priyanka Chopra) who wants to make it big in the fashion industry as a supermodel. In the city of dreams, Mumbai starts her struggle to reach the top. Paving her way through model coordinators, portfolio photographers, talent managers, fashion designers, media moguls and business magnates she finally gets to rule the ramp.

Meghna clearly understands than the ramp calls for some attitude but with success her attitude upgrades into arrogance. And this overconfidence gets her tumbling down the slope of success. Back to square one, it's nearly impossible for Meghna to make her comeback. But she isn't the one to accept defeat.

The structuring of the screenplay is as complex as easy the spirit of the story sounds to be. The writing by Madhur Bhandarkar, Anuradha Tiwari and Ajay Monga is neither short on detailing the operational intricacies of the fashion world nor slack on the essence of the protagonist's core conflicts.

Priyanka Chopra's character graph in skillfully sketched from an aspiring model to an ambitious showstopper to a brash supermodel and subsequently to a faded manikin, desperate to make her comeback. In each phase her character exudes contrasting gamut of emotions.

There are distinctive Bhandarkar-brand of revelations on the glamour world like how wannabe models get pay-packets for being eye-candy at elite events or how eminent designers tag their labels on apparels from Bangkok's Indira Market to pass-off as their own creations

Automate Installation of XP

You can create a CD that can install Windows XP automatically, putting in all the details and answering all the dialog boxes.

The secret behind this is the answer file, which tells Windows what to do while it's installing. The answer file can be created using Windows setup manager.

Using this tool, you can make the answer file so powerful that you can even tell Windows to include or exclude individual components, set the display resolution, and more.

Here's the Steps involved in creating XP Automated Installation Disc:

Step 1: To begin with, insert your Windows XP installation CD into the drive and copy the entire contents of the CD to a new folder on your hard disk.

Step 2: Navigate to the Support > Tools folder on the CD and double-click the Deploy.cab file. Copy all the files to a new folder on your hard disk.

Step 3: The crucial part begins now, creating the answer file. To execute the windows setup manager, double click the Setupmgr.exe file from the contents of the Deploy.cab, which you just copied onto the hard drive.

Step 4: The first few steps of the wizard are self explanatory. Select the following options from the successive dialog boxes. Create a new answer file; Windows unattended installation (Select the appropriate Windows version); "Fully automated"; "No this answer file will be used to install from CD"; and finally, accept the license agreement.

Step 5: Under the General Settings, you can customize the installation of Windows by providing the default name and organization, display settings, time zone and the product key. Fill in the fields using the drop-down list or by keying in the details. If you don't select an option from the drop-down list, the default values will be used.

Step 6: After you are done click Finish and save the answer file as "winnt.sif" when you are prompted. Advanced users can further tweak the answer file by referring to the Help file called Ref.chm in the same folder. Apr 6 Muzammil

Step 7: Finally copy the answer file to i386 folder in the Windows XP installation folder you created in the beginning.

Step 8: To burn a bootable installation disc, you need the boot sector of the Windows XP CD. Download it from here bootfiles.zip

Step 9: Launch Nero and select CD-ROM (Boot) from the New Compilation dialog box. Under the Boot tab, specify the boot sector file you downloaded and extracted. Set the emulation as "No emulation", and keep the boot message blank. Most importantly, remember to set the "Number of loaded sectors" as 4.

Step 10: Under the Burn tab, set the write method to disc at-once. Click the New button to to begin adding files and folders to the compilation. Drag all the contents of the Windows XP installation disc that you copied to your hard drive (with the answer file in the i386 folder) into the left pane. Insert a blank CD into the optical drive and hit burn button.

Lock XP

You can lock your XP workstation with two clicks of the mouse. Create a new shortcut on your desktop using a right mouse click, and enter ‘rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation’ in the location field. Give the shortcut a name you like. Using Notepad or Edit, edit the text file /windows/inf/sysoc.inf, search for the word ‘hide’ and remove it. Click Start, Run and type Control keymgr.dll
Remove the entries from the list.
The other ways to access this dialog are:

Speed up ur browsing of Windows 2000 & XP machine

Here's a great tip to speed up your browsing of Windows XP machines. Its actually a fix to a bug installed as default in Windows 2000 that scans shared files for Scheduled Tasks. And it turns out that you can experience a delay as long as 30 seconds when you try to view shared files across a network because Windows 2000 is using the extra time to search the remote computer for any Scheduled Tasks. Note that though the fix is originally intended for only those affected, Windows 2000 users will experience that the actual browsing speed of both the Internet & Windows Explorers improve significantly after applying it since it doesn't search for Scheduled Tasks anymore. Here's how :

Open up the Registry and go to :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Explorer/RemoteComputer/NameSpace
Under that branch, select the key :
{D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF}
and delete it.
This is key that instructs Windows to search for Scheduled Tasks. If you like you may want to export the exact branch so that you can restore the key if necessary.
This fix is so effective that it doesn't require a reboot and you can almost immediately determine yourself how much it speeds up your browsing processes. Apr 6 Muzammil

Go to the Start menu, select Run… and type ‘gpedit.msc’; then select User Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components, Windows Explorer and find the Do not move deleted files to the Recycle Bin setting. Trick to show your name in taskbar

Here is a trick to add your name in place of AM and PM beside time in the taskbar.


Goto Start -> Control Panel -> Regional and Language option -> Customize (beside English US) -> Go to TIME tab -> Change AM symbol and PM symbol from AM and PM to your name -> Apply -> Ok ...IS it changed ??? May be not ...Now go to time in taskbar and Double Click it to open "Date and time property" ...Look at the place where time changes in digital format i.e. 02:47:52 AM , click to arrow to chage the AM or PM by selecting and press arrow.

It will Show your name Apply -> OK
