Sony in the eReader sPrice battle

Sony Corp has cut the price of its Reader devices, joining an electronic-reader price war between Amazon.com Inc and Barnes & Noble Inc. On Sony's website, the Daily Edition version of the Reader was listed at $299.99, down from $349.99. The Touch Edition was priced at $169.99 from $249.99, and the basic Pocket Edition was discounted to $149.99 from $169.99. Last week, Amazon cut the price on its most expensive Kindle electronic reader, the Kindle DX, to $379 from $489. A week before, it had reduced the price of its cheaper version of the Kindle to $189, just hours after bookstore chain Barnes & Noble lowered the price of its Nook to $199. The price war comes as makers of e-readers anticipate competition from Apple Inc's iPad tablet computer, which can also function as an e-reader. It has a starting price of $499, sports a color screen and has the ability to play video and browse the Web.

Asus EeePC 1201N Netbook is it worth the bucks?

It’s the most powerful and also the most expensive netbook that i have layed my eyes on. So let’s see whether its performance and the overall package justify its price .

The 1201N comes in two flavors, black and silver-grey. Except for the keys and the base, which are black matte, the entire unit has an overall glossy finish, but a brush metal look. Ports are well-placed at either side and the built-in speakers are in the front, which isn’t the best thing. When using the machine on the lap, you might cover the speakers, which easily drowns the sound. Overall, it’s a sexy netbook to look at a convenient one to carry around.

Features
In terms of features, it is the hardware that distinguishes this machine from all other netbooks out there. In fact, the hardware make this netbook as powerful and convenient as an ultra-portable laptop. Built around Nvidia’s Ion platform, the Asus EeePC 1201N is powered by an Intel Atom N330 processor 1.6 GHz and is hyper-threaded well a good thing for a multi-tasking environment. It has 2 GB DDR2 RAM, a 250 GB hard drive, discrete graphics (GeForce 9400m) and a 12.1-inch glossy screen (1366 x 768). There’s no optical drive, but that’s not yet a downside on netbooks. The laps are pre-loaded with Windows 7 Starter, there are variants with Windows 7 Home Premium too. Other features are rather common, such as HDMI, VGA, 3 USB, audio jacks, webcam and a memory card reader. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi N, gigabit Ethernet and Bluetooth.

Here Comes the Quick Charge Vehicle

The biggest problem of electric vehicles which is based for the mass market is the long time it usually takes to charge batteries. But now a Japanese company called JFE Engineering now claims to have found a solution for that problem. Even a so-called “quick battery chargers” often take 30 minutes to charge a car’s battery to 80% of its capacity so this JFE’s news is big.

Their self-developed charger apparently needs just three minutes for a 50% charge, or five minutes for a 70% charge. In tests JFE conducted with the device, Mitsubishi’s electric car i-MiEV was able to drive for 80km continuously after a 5-minute charge (the vehicle has a driving range of 160km on a full charge).

Along with this JFE developed a low-cost version of its charger, which doesn’t require a power transformer and therefore costs just $60,000 to install (roughly half the usual amount). Both that device and the high-cost model meet the specifications of the CHAdeMo standard for electric cars that was brought to life by a group of Japanese and international companies back in March.JFE expects its charger to be used mainly at gas stations and convenience stores all over Japan by the end of March 2011.

India's First CDMA Android- Galaxy i899

Indian CDMA users those who always wished for Android action needn’t wait any longer. Rcom is planning to release Galaxy i899 on its network, making it India’s first CDMA-based Android phone. The i899 is no different as the one we saw last year meant for the Chinese market.

Well no confirmation has been made of which Android build will power the handset. It features a 3.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen display (480×800), 3.2MP autofocus camera with LED flash, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Reliance Netconnect, microSD card slot, DivX playback and 1440mAh battery. The “Mobile Safari” web browser is also a part of the feature list which adds to its benefits.

Watch out for Nokia N9

It was just last week that we saw leaked images of the Nokia N9 in the wild. The N9 was an interesting handset right from the outset because of its name - which made it look like a successor to the Nokia N900.

The phone is believed to sport a 3.5-inch touchscreen with multi-touch support, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, USB 2.0 (micro), GPS with A-GPS support. The camera would be a downgrade from that of the N8's at "just" 8 megapixels. Apart from these, the phone will also sport a 3.5mm jack and an HDMI out.

Going by the images, the phone looks more of a Nokia N8 with a slide-out QWERTY keypad.The C0-00 label on the phone which sort of makes people wonder if this one will eventually end up as a C Series device. This too is a possibility because Nokia had recently confirmed that the N8 is its last Symbian based N-Series handset. All future N-Series would come loaded with MeeGo.

Use ur mouse and keyboard for PS3 by using the new Eagle Eye Converter

The gamers need to be adequately armed when playing FPS games. So the Penguin’s latest offering namely the Eagle-Eye converter for the Sony PS3 gaming console does just that by transforming a regular USB HID keyboard and mouse into a weapon of choice, it allows the peripherals to be used as turbo-charged controller.

Infused with USB 2.0 keyboard and mouse inputs, the right analog stick is capable of defaulting to movements. Users can connect the device to any console version of the PS3 using the 2 feet USB cable. The converter features a Turbo option for the square, triangle, circle, X, L1, L2, R1, R2 buttons. In addition to this, the device also reveals Programmable Macro Functions that can convert one key into a combination of moves.

The Eagle-Eye converter will mark its debut at the E3 that starts on June 15, 2010. The converter will carry a price tag of $59.99.
